Living Island Dinosaurs
Growing up to 10 feet long and weighing over 300 pounds, the Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is the largest living lizard on Earth. Covered in a flexible suit of chainmail-like bone deposits called osteoderms beneath its scales, it is built like an armored medieval tank.

Venom That Prevents Blood Clotting
Contrary to the old myth that Komodo dragons rely on dirty mouth bacteria, they possess sophisticated multi-chambered venom glands in their lower jaw. The venom injects toxic proteins that block blood coagulation, widen blood vessels, and induce rapid circulatory shock in large prey like water buffalo.
