Weighing under 40 pounds, the Wolverine regularly drives animals ten times its size away from food. Packed with dense muscle, thick frost-resistant fur, and immense biting power, this solitary predator patrols home ranges spanning up to 500 square miles across rugged mountain terrain, running through waist-deep snow without pausing.
Bio Fact: Wolverine fur contains hydrophobic properties that cause frost, ice crystals, and frozen water droplets to slide right off, keeping the animal dry and warm in -40°C arctic gales.
Bone-Cracking Jaws
While other predators starve during deep winter freezes, the wolverine thrives by scavenging frozen bone and marrow. Its upper molars are turned 90 degrees toward the inside of its mouth, acting like heavy-duty bolt cutters that snap through frozen moose femur bones with effortless leverage.
