Overview

The Lowland Streaked Tenrec (Hemicentetes semispinosus) is a bizarre, brightly striped insectivore found exclusively in the rainforests of Madagascar. Covered in yellow and black barbed quills, it is the only mammal on Earth that communicates through stridulation — rubbing quills together like a cricket.
